Ms. Opal Lee - The "Grandmother of Juneteenth"

  In 2021, Juneteenth was made a federal holiday, in part because of the actions of activist Opal Lee to raise awareness. Freedom Trail

Participate in a "3.5 mile freedom walk" beginning at Rancocas State Park, Burlington County, cross the Rancocas Nature Center; and end in Timbuctoo, Westampton. As guest complete the trail and enter the grounds of Timbuctoo, they will be transported into a celebration of "freedom!"

Our presentations are given by iconic historic family members from the following lineage: Harriet Tubman, William and James Still; Thomas Garrett; Fredrick Douglas; Lenape Nation; and the sounds of Gospel music by notable gospel artists!
